Designing and constructing a green data center brings an added level of complexity not found in many other projects. Foremost in most data centers is the requirement to provide a higher level of availability than is found in other building types.
As alternative energy saving measures are evaluated, they need to compared against the other requirements for the critical mission of the facility. Without attention to these considerations operational staff may not utilize energy saving features for fear of interrupting the facility mission.
