Swanson Rink’s Chelsey Lange Wins Young Engineer of the YearSwanson Rink’s Chelsey Lange won the 2014 National Society of Professional Engineers’ (NSPE) Young Engineer of the Year award at the annual ceremony last week. Ms. Lange has provided engineering design for data centers, corporate office buildings and airports during her seven years at Swanson Rink, and trained herself in the area of energy modeling on how to simulate new and existing buildings systems to evaluate whole building energy performance for optimized design and operation. Her expertise in energy modeling is a valuable asset on projects as it provides information to our team that may be used for widely varying purposes.
Chelsey’s continuous leadership in the ACE Mentor Program over the past three years also contributed to her win at the NSPE Awards. The ACE Mentor Program teaches high school students about careers in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry by having them plan and design mock projects. Chelsey volunteers her time twice a week for 14 weeks each year.
Chelsey Lange received her Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 2006, and earned her Professional Engineer License in 2013 and is a certified LEED AP BD +C.
